Alright right now

We have an open plan office at work, and my cubicle faces out to a thoroughfare. This is both a curse and a blessing; when I am looking for distraction I usually don’t have to wait long for it, but when I’m trying to focus I need to pretend I am suddenly oblivious to the comings and goings passing me by (I am in fact a hard working and conscientious person, but who doesn’t need a little bit of a brain break now and then!). This week I’ve been struggling with a particularly nasty strain of the common cold. It inflicts a near constant sore throat, intermittently streaming eyes, sinus pain and a blocked nose that makes sleeping like trying to get comfortable with your face submerged in a swimming pool. After a day at home watching back to back Offspring (love love love) I was bored. I went into work, and whilst not functioning at 110% I was there, and that has got to count for something. Fecund

Do you have a favourite word?  A word that carries more than it’s meaning, but the very sound of it is appealing and enjoyable to you. Love this clip from Miranda.  My favourite word of the moment is fecund . It’s not a word that generally pops up on everyday conversation, so you probably have to look for excuses to use it. Forgive me for explaining if it’s meaning is already known to you; fecund means ‘producing or capable of producing offspring’. I’m not sure how often women go around describing themselves as fecund, it seemed to be word used more to describe fertile land, but hey! I am in the process of producing offspring.  My other half and I are expecting our second child, estimated date of arrival in late October! Our nearly 3 year old, in 16 weeks or so will be a big brother, and his world will change….
