We have an open plan office at work, and my cubicle faces out to a thoroughfare. This is both a curse and a blessing; when I am looking for distraction I usually don’t have to wait long for it, but when I’m trying to focus I need to pretend I am suddenly oblivious to the comings and goings passing me by (I am in fact a hard working and conscientious person, but who doesn’t need a little bit of a brain break now and then!). This week I’ve been struggling with a particularly nasty strain of the common cold. It inflicts a near constant sore throat, intermittently streaming eyes, sinus pain and a blocked nose that makes sleeping like trying to get comfortable with your face submerged in a swimming pool. After a day at home watching back to back Offspring (love love love) I was bored. I went into work, and whilst not functioning at 110% I was there, and that has got to count for something.
